Villa Del Palmar Resort & Spa

Hotel Information: A nine-story atrium lobby with waterfalls, seashell motif, and saltwater aquarium sets the tone at this oceanfront resort. Three tiered buildings are arrayed beside the pool complex, which features a whale waterslide, spa tubs, and a wide array of scheduled activities. The resort caters to groups and families, many of whom return annually.

Amenity highlights: The 10,000-square-foot European-style Spa at Villa del Palmar offers treatments such as the Sea of Cortez Discovery Massage, poolside massage, aromatherapy baths, and the Milk and Honey Body Wrap (surcharges apply; advance reservations recommended).

The centerpiece of the Villa Del Palmar Resort is the pool complex with three pools: an adults-only freeform pool, an activity pool, and a relaxation pool with infinity-edge spa tub.

Bella California, one of the resort’s two restaurants, features open-air dining and views of El Arco—the natural-arch landmark—and the Sea of Cortez.

Insider tip: Guests can meet in the lobby every Thursday afternoon for a catamaran sunset tour of El Arco and the Cabo coastline (surcharge applies). From December through March, grey whales can be seen on the tour. Also included on the two-hour trip are snacks and domestic drinks.

This Cabo San Lucas, Mexico resort offers 458 air-conditioned suites, each with a private balcony furnished with a table and two chairs. Views are of the garden and pool or the ocean.

Generously sized suites range from 592 to 860 square feet. All include kitchens with two electric stovetop burners, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffeemaker, pots and pans, service for four, and marble breakfast bar with barstools. Separate living rooms are decorated in soothing light blues, purples, and creams, with wicker furniture and Mexican tile floors. Bathrooms feature deep marble tubs and painted porcelain accessories.
