Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa

Hotel Information: Flagstone paths, Mexican antiques, beamed ceilings, oversized ceramics, huge paintings and tile artworks, courtyards, fountains, and candlelight throughout the grounds after dark create a Mexican ambience that attracts families and couples.

Insider tip: Atop the main building under a yellow-and-blue dome is an open-air room where 360-degree views of sea and desert are especially dramatic at sunset.

The Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort offers 270 guestrooms and suites in 13 hacienda-style, earth-tone buildings of 2–5 stories. (No elevators in two-story buildings.) Sheraton's signature Sweet Sleeper beds feature foot-thick, plush-top mattresses, multiple hypoallergenic feather-down pillows, fleece blankets, and comforters. (Other types of pillows are also available.) Alcoves with louvered shutters for privacy between bathrooms and bedrooms contain jetted tubs. Bathrooms contain stall showers and marble vanities with two colorful ceramic sinks.

Furnished flagstone balconies or patios provide garden, ocean, or golf course views. Wood-paddle ceiling fans offer a cooling alternative to air conditioning. High-speed Internet access (surcharge) is available. Mexican-style decor includes tile floors, warm woods, and brightly colored fabrics.
